We’re just three weeks into the new Rotary year and things are hopping.  The first week was a very effective Club Assembly with lots of plans being worked.  On the second week, a fine program on the Gift of Life through organ transplants was presented.

During these weeks, hundreds of camp items for kids have come in and are ready to be delivered to the Higher M-Pact kids.  More than 20 Books for Kids are on hand to be delivered to Head Start.  However, Joe Morris reported that he just bought a box of children’s books for $25 that he is ready to turn in.  It looks like we will have 120+ books in this first month.  (Soon you will hear a plan to compete in getting the most books for your money.  Joe has already set the bar high.)

It’s been a short month for breakfast meetings due to the 4th of July and next week’s evening meeting at Theatre in the Park, but the first counting of loose change and bills for Polio Plus has brought in $65. What a great beginning for Gail’s board and the Rotary Club of Johnson County.
In just a couple of weeks we can learn more about Rotary at the District level  and the Rotary Foundation at a free District 5710 Seminar at Washburn University on Saturday, Aug 10. Attending that Seminar will give you a make-up to use any time during the year.
At this point it also looks like more than half of the club members have perfect attendance for the year.  Let’s keep up the good work!
