We had a very good meeting last week.  Our speaker was Brad Grabs from The Learning Club who talked about how his organization has adapted to the pandemic.  Since we have District Grant funds available to assist this worthy cause, we will have an assembly meeting this week.  Our focus will be formulating the criteria that can be used for a district grant application.  Also, we will continue the ZOOM only meeting format through August.  See you Thursday!

Lenexa Rotary Club's Peace, Love & Friendship Rock Facebook Challenge
Lenexa Rotary would like to encourage everyone to have a little fun while walking the paths and stream ways in JOCO. Look for painted rocks, take pics and messenger it to this Facebook page and it will be added to these pics. We will call this the Lenexa Rotary PEACE, LOVE & FRIENDSHIP ROCK CHALLENGE. We will have weekly winners for the pic taker and if we can ID the artist, they will win too. Everyone can vote by "liking the rock of your choice. Gift Cards for carry out at one of our local eating establishments will be the prizes. Will end May 15th with a Grand Prize Winner. Who said that The Lenexa Art Fair is not taking place in some form?

Meals On Wheels

Due to the COVID-19 situation, Johnson County Meals on Wheels has switched to STAFF ONLY Monday Delivery for the unforeseeable future.  They will not schedule volunteers to deliver meals.  Meals on Wheels clients will receive a weekly Frozen Box of meals as well as a large box of Shelf-Stable meals.  They are also contacting clients weekly to check-in. I will notify everyone when the regular schedule will resume.

Rotarians need to be mindful of what we say since we are trying to be God’s people helping neighbors.  There are many Scriptures that say, in effect,  “What comes out of your mouth comes from your heart.” Or once you’ve said it (or put it on social media), those words are “like a rolling river which cannot be stopped.”  Our Rotary Four-Way Test is a reminder that before we speak, “Is it the truth,  and “Is it fair to ALL concerned?”

Our words tell much about us.  Do they say we are fair or understanding, dogmatic or judgmental, helpful or hateful, loving or biased, selfish, or caring?

Listening to others tells even more about us.  Are we listening for understanding or what to say next?  St. Francis of Assisi said “it is better for us to understand, then to be understood.”

We Rotarians are good people who are on this planet to be helpers.  Everyday Rotary is working somewhere in the world making things better for people of all races, all creeds, and all Ethnicities.   We need also to speak words of help and understanding.

Let’s work for greater understanding and more people helping people.
