We had a very productive assembly meeting last week.  The suggestions made at the meeting about our Rotary District Grant application were added.  The application was forwarded to Brad Grabs of The Learning Club on Friday.  Brad is working on the letter that is required as the cooperating organization.  Once that is complete, I will submit our application.  Please begin thinking of ways to engage the community to join us on this project.  We will likely have at least one other assembly meeting to decide implementation once the grant is approved.

On another note, we have a very good speaker coming to this week's Zoom meeting.  Sheyvette Dinkens from Wyandotte High School will return and talk about her new project.  Please plan on Zooming with us this Thursday.  See you then.

Meals On Wheels

Due to the COVID-19 situation, Johnson County Meals on Wheels has switched to STAFF ONLY Monday Delivery for the unforeseeable future.  They will not schedule volunteers to deliver meals.  Meals on Wheels clients will receive a weekly Frozen Box of meals as well as a large box of Shelf-Stable meals.  They are also contacting clients weekly to check-in. I will notify everyone when the regular schedule will resume.

ROTARY MINUTE

July 27, 2020

Our world is in turmoil!   The pandemic is growing in our country and third world countries. Politicians are demeaning anyone who disagrees with them.  Neighbors are not speaking to each other if they don’t agree as partisans.  Leaders are attempting to divide people. Dictators are trying to silence protesters.

Then I see the ROTARIAN in my mailbox.   “THIS IS OUR MOMENT” popped out in big letters, followed by “We do the hard work,” and “We bring people together” and “We solve problems.”     What positive messages come from Rotary in our times of trial!

That is right!   We, as Rotarians and humanitarians, do these things daily.  Our actions in our neighborhoods, our churches, our stores, and offices show who we are every day of our lives.

Think about:   How did I bring people together today?  Or, “What problem did I help solve that helps people in need?
