Because of club member feedback regarding in-person meetings, we have consulted with the Holiday Inn Hotel and together have decided to continue meeting via Zoom through the end of June. Thank you Rod for stepping up as the club's liaison to the hotel.   We do have a speaker for this week but need more after that.  The beauty of Zoom is that our speaker can be from anywhere in the world!  Please contact Becky with your suggestions for speakers.  The Zoom meeting codes are unchanged.

Lenexa Rotary Club's Peace, Love & Friendship Rock Facebook Challenge
Lenexa Rotary would like to encourage everyone to have a little fun while walking the paths and stream ways in JOCO. Look for painted rocks, take pics and messenger it to this Facebook page and it will be added to these pics. We will call this the Lenexa Rotary PEACE, LOVE & FRIENDSHIP ROCK CHALLENGE. We will have weekly winners for the pic taker and if we can ID the artist, they will win too. Everyone can vote by "liking the rock of your choice. Gift Cards for carry out at one of our local eating establishments will be the prizes. Will end May 15th with a Grand Prize Winner. Who said that The Lenexa Art Fair is not taking place in some form?

Meals On Wheels

Due to the COVID-19 situation, Johnson County Meals on Wheels has switched to STAFF ONLY Monday Delivery for the unforeseeable future.  They will not schedule volunteers to deliver meals.  Meals on Wheels clients will receive a weekly Frozen Box of meals as well as a large box of Shelf-Stable meals.  They are also contacting clients weekly to check-in. I will notify everyone when the regular schedule will resume.

If you haven’t heard or read yet, our District 5710 is giving a 6 times match on gifts to Polio Plus. That means our club gift of $2200 is going to multiply 6 times.  That is quite a matching grant.

Unfortunately, Rotary’s world-wide battle with the World Health Organization is still going on.  Rotary International set “freeing the world of polio” as a goal back in 1989.

Last Sunday, in our Zoom Sunday school adult class, the leader mentioned that she hoped that our COVID 19 pandemic would go the way of polio and disappear with a vaccine.  Bill R and I had to remind her that POLIO has not yet gone away after some 65 years that it hit our country hard.

Rotary hasn’t given up yet and is still working to rid polio from those final 3 countries.  If you gave extra to Polio Plus, your money was doubled once by our JoCo Rotary Charitable Foundation and now will be multiplied even more.  That’s the power of Rotary giving - it doubles and triples and etc.!
