Bulletin for September 27, 2018
Summary of September 20th Meeting
Thanks to your generosity we collected $24 in 'Happy Bucks' and 'Dollars for the Foundation' last week. All these contributions benefit the Rotary International Foundation.
Oktoberfest is rapidly approaching!  Please purchase your tickets by October 1st.  All unsold event tickets and raffle tickets must be turned in at the October 4th meeting.  If you have a silent auction item or are planning on donating an item, please let Pam Stockman know ASAP.   The deadline to give silent auction items is also October 4th.   Thank you!

After being dragged around town with out of town guests on two days of shopping, dining, and feeling like I’ve been dragged through a hole too small for me to fit through, I stumbled onto a relatively new thrift store in Independence.  They were having a super sale on children’s books and I bought six or so. I know this won’t be a part of our recent grant submitted by John Ruo, but it’s worthy of thinking that as we go through the entire year that we should keep an eye out for children’s books. AND GET PUMPED FOR OCTOBERFEST!

OKTOBERFEST on Thursday,  October 11th

Oktoberfest is fast approaching!  Individual raffle tickets for our Grand Prize Drawing will be available at the 8/23/18 meeting.  Three "packs" of raffle tickets are now available on Eventbrite.   Have you purchased your tickets to the event yet?  Have you reached out to people you conduct business with to ask for corporate sponsorships?   Have you donated any items for our silent auction?   All these activities will help make Oktoberfest a success.   Please contact Pam Stockman with any questions or concerns.  Thank you!

The Rotary FOUNDATION BANQUET and AWARDS DINNER will be held this year on November 3rd at the Sheraton Overland Park.

Invite a friend/co-worker to Rotary!

The annual “Rotary project month” is very important to every Rotarian and every club.  It’s the one time that help is needed on several levels of the project by every member. In small clubs, member involvement is the key to success.
This is the home stretch for Oktoberfest and ticket sales are winding down, but there are still seats available that need to be filled.  Silent Auction items are still coming in, but there is increasing urgency for members to get their items in, especially if we want big results.  There is still time, but Pam is getting nervous. Everything we do to help is a sedative, especially getting valuable auction items.
Save several hours of the day on Thursday, October 11. Help is needed at the beginning of the event, 4 to 6 pm for set-up, staging and checking in the first registrants. Another three-hour block is needed from 6 to 9 pm, for hosting guests, selling raffle tickets, helping close up and clean up.
Your help is needed.  Our help is needed?    Put it on your calendar because “My Help is Needed” to make this project a success.
