Bulletin for April 5, 2018

Summary of March 29th Meeting

Thanks to your generosity we collected $24.00  in 'Happy Bucks' and 'Dollars for the Foundation' last week.  All these contributions benefit the Rotary International Foundation.

Nikki Anthony, our newest Club member, gave a Classification Talk at last Thursday's meeting.  We learned about her work with Growing Futures and how her career path led to this most rewarding job.  Thanks for sharing, Nikki!  You can learn more about Growing Futures here: www.growingfutureseec.org

2018-2019

After being dragged around town with out of town guests on two days of shopping, dining, and feeling like I’ve been dragged through a hole too small for me to fit through, I stumbled onto a relatively new thrift store in Independence.  They were having a super sale on children’s books and I bought six or so. I know this won’t be a part of our recent grant submitted by John Ruo, but it’s worthy of thinking that as we go through the entire year that we should keep an eye out for children’s books. AND GET PUMPED FOR OCTOBERFEST!

ROTARY MINUTE

March 20, 2018

President Jeff has one more goal that he wants our club to achieve; let’s get more members into the Rotary Club of Johnson County!

This goal would be easy to achieve if each of us would ask just one person to come to breakfast to see what we do and are about.  Even if only 30% of our ‘asks’ would say “yes,” we would have three new Rotarians.  However, if we play our invite cards right, we could easily be a 30 member club.

We already know the type of person we want in the club, so as we work, play, worship, shop and attend events, we run into out-going interesting friendly people who get things done.  If you run into one of these people, even if you don’t know them, ask: .  . . . .  Have you heard of Rotary? . . . . or . . .   You know, you are the type of person that would be a perfect fit for an organization I belong to . . . .or. . . . . . You seem to like to work with people, have you ever belonged to a service club?

Sometimes these contacts are easier than the ones we know quite well.  After all, we are just asking someone to come to a free breakfast, and the food is really quite good!

Being in Rotary is worth it!   Sharing the work effort is needed!  Let’s go to work getting more positive, friendly and caring people into our club.  They will feel right at home!
