Our first hybrid Zoom meeting was very successful!  We had seven members attending in person and several more attending via Zoom.  Those of us that were at the hotel felt very safe and had plenty of space to social distance.  Our next hybrid meeting will be on Thursday 10/8.  Just to be clear, the in-person meeting starts at 7:30 and the Zoom portion will begin at 8:00 am.  On another note, we did get our grant application approved so this week we can decide on the timeline for our project.  The board has voted to approve Gabriel Rop's membership so we will take a full club vote this week.  Finally, please see the thank you note from Sheyvett from E Ship rising and put the two dates mentioned on your calendar.  I'm so proud to be president of our small, but mighty club.  We ARE making a difference!  See you Thursday.

From Sheyvette:
Hello All,
Thank you so much for sponsoring! We will have a seat available at our Pitch Competition on Feb. 8, 2020 @ 6pm via Zoom. Please connect me with the members that would be interested in this opportunity.
Additionally, we would like to offer an optional Pitch Practice Session with your members for the participants, during the week of February 1, 2020. We will follow back up at a later date, to discuss and see if this is still of interest to you.

Meals On Wheels

Due to the COVID-19 situation, Johnson County Meals on Wheels has switched to STAFF ONLY Monday Delivery for the unforeseeable future.  They will not schedule volunteers to deliver meals.  Meals on Wheels clients will receive a weekly Frozen Box of meals as well as a large box of Shelf-Stable meals.  They are also contacting clients weekly to check-in. I will notify everyone when the regular schedule will resume.

Many Rotary clubs have established Charitable Foundations. The purpose, having ready money to help in community or world emergencies and to be able to move quickly on Rotary Matching Grant projects.

Out JoCo Rotary Club Charitable Foundation, established in the mid-1990s has added money to it each year with every fund-raising project.  Recently we have used our fund to get a District 5710 matching grant, something we have for several years.

Monies from our Charitable Foundation have helped locally:  Higher M-Pact, the Le AnnBrittan Infant Development Center, Giving Grove plantings at a local penal facility, Heart to Heart disaster relief, Books for Kids, Growing Futures, and St Mary’s Food Kitchen.  (Call me if I’ve missed some!).

Internationally, the JoCo Rotary Foundation has assisted with wheelchairs to Panama, several water projects to Guatemala, a Haiti Birthing Clinic, an African village medical clinic, Honduras hurricane relief, a Mexican school, and an SMNW HS Rotaract work project to Central America.

Individually none of us could even think in these terms of impact on our communities and world.  Together, we Rotarians leave a large foot-print!

The work, the philosophies, and the caring for all humans defines Rotary International.  In our troubled world, we are constantly working for good in our own small Rotary Club of Johnson County!
