Our club donated a trunk full of healthy snacks to the Learning Club last week. Students receive the snacks at the beginning of each session. According to their web site, modeling good eating habits is an important part of the program. Thank you all for the kind donations and thank you Carol and Gail for delivering the snacks to the Learning Club and thank you to our members for donating the snacks.

Sheyvette Dinkins will bring two of her young entrepreneurs to our breakfast meeting this Thursday, March 17th.  Hope to see you on Thursday, March 17th!

ROTARY MINUTE

Rotary Minute January 31, 2022

Rotary is celebrated as a Service organization, but is also a Training organization.  Rotarians are always encouraged to be leaders. We are taught to use and develop the skills of organization and to see projects through.  Many of us have gained and developed those skills as board members, project organizers, club secretaries and club presidents.  These traits have led Rotarians and Rotary projects to success all over the world.

Rotarians provide youth training opportunities with Rotaract and Interact clubs in schools and colleges. Other opportunities, such as the annual Rotary Youth Leadership Academy (RYLA) are available to local youth all over the state.  This training experience has sent hundreds of Kansas kids out into their communities to be future leaders.

For years, our club  has sponsored high school youth to attend that week-long summer academy.  In fact, club members have sent children, grandchildren,  nephews and nieces, neighbors and church kids we know to our District 5710 RYLA.  If you know kids of sophomore or junior year in HS, you might want to consider asking for an application.

The most recent ROTARIAN shows how we can train ourselves to be better people, leaders and Rotarians.  Many examples of training and schooling opportunities are featured.  Here we see  club projects, our five Peace Academies and projects that teach skills for living in  the US and foreign countries.

Rotary is serving, but it also grows  leaders who continue to spread the message of peace,  ethical living and concern for our fellow men and women.
