President's Message

Our program last week was very timely given all of the uncertainty in the world. Adjusting to life's changes can be very challenging. Originally from Guyana, Claire Smith has experienced a life of transitions, working in different cultural contexts and various leadership positions.

We have the opportunity in Rotary, to learn a great deal from each other and from our guest presenters. Thanks for bringing your unique experiences and perspectives to our club.

Have a great week.

Becky

ANNOUNCEMENTS

ROTARY MINUTE

Rotary Minute April 11, 2022

Ron Finke, our speaker, talked Thursday about the importance of good stewardship.  Rotary is an example of good stewards coming together to give good ideas even more power.  He used the example of Rotary’s work with polio in the early 1980’s. It was an idea that worked in the USA that has changed the world.  Another example is the United Nations, that was organized with the same ideals of Rotary International.  Many Rotarians were part of the organizing group that set-up the UN.

A small idea of JoCo Rotarians selling roses on Valentine’s Day helped the LeAnn Britain Infant Development Center.  A total of $95,000 in rose sale profits, over 10 years, helped that center grow. Our club giving a book signed by a speaker to a Head Start program led to collecting and delivering  33,000 “Books for Kids” all over the KC Metro in just 12 years.

Good stewardship is part of  “Service is the Best Work of Life” and helps us live with “An Attitude of Gratitude!”

Big things can be done by small Rotary Clubs.  Just think what we could do if we grew more new members!
