Bulletin for October 3, 2019
Summary of September 19th Meeting
Thanks to your generosity we collected $31 in 'Happy Bucks' and 'Dollars for the Foundation' last week. All these contributions benefit the Rotary International Foundation.
Scott Wilson, Chairman of the board at Noah's Bandage Project, was our guest presenter at our breakfast meeting last week. The mission of this organization is to end childhood cancer through awareness, support, and the gift of hope. Noah's Bandage Project was started by Scott and Deb Wilson's son, Noah, who was diagnosed with bone cancer at the age of 6.

A big thank you to everyone for making Oktoberfest a success. We as a club really pulled together, worked as a team and made Oktoberfest happen.  While attendance was down a little,  everyone I spoke with had a very good time.  The winner of the Grand Prize drawing was Sister Vicki Lichtenauer. For those of you not there, her reaction to winning was better than any contestant on a game show!  She was so thrilled.   We will let you know the numbers from Oktoberfest as they come in.   Thank you again my fellow Rotarians!

The Rotary FOUNDATION BANQUET and AWARDS DINNER will be held this year on November 1st at the Shield Club at Children's Mercy Hospital Park - home of Sporting KC.

Every Rotary club that I have belonged to always has had “one big project” that brings in the big money for the causes we support. Ours is Oktoberfest 2019 and we are in the final lap to the finish line. The finish line is Oct. 10 and the project is done when we get the money in and prizes out.  Small clubs rely on lots of help from each of its members, especially when it comes to reaching our goals and having a successful event.  Here is what still needs to be done:
  • Sell as many tickets as possible
  • Sell as many raffle tickets as you can for the Weekend in Branson.
  • Keep looking for sponsors for the event.
  • Be creative and generous in getting in Silent Auction items.
  • Sign-up to help this Thursday at breakfast for a 3 hour time to help at Oktoberfest (3 to 6 pm,  5 to 8 pm, or 6 to 9 pm).  Some of us may even be able to help the whole time.
  • Invite someone to bring who has no one to get them there.
  • Think of Rotarians you helped in other clubs and sell them tickets.
Remember this is a team project.  Each of us can help make this a very successful project.
We have just 9 days from today,-which is October 1!
