Bulletin for October 3, 2019
Summary of September 19th Meeting
Thanks to your generosity we collected $31 in 'Happy Bucks' and 'Dollars for the Foundation' last week. All these contributions benefit the Rotary International Foundation.
Scott Wilson, Chairman of the board at Noah's Bandage Project, was our guest presenter at our breakfast meeting last week. The mission of this organization is to end childhood cancer through awareness, support, and the gift of hope. Noah's Bandage Project was started by Scott and Deb Wilson's son, Noah, who was diagnosed with bone cancer at the age of 6.

At our Assembly meeting last week, we discussed ideas for an upcoming service project.  It was decided that our club wants to serve at St. Mary's Food Kitchen.  They have staff serving day on the first Wednesday of each month.  Since we will nor have a meeting on April 30th, it was decided to go to the food kitchen on Wednesday, April 1st.  I will confirm with the food kitchen and let you know.  We also discussed ways to increase our membership at the meeting.  Dave, Larry and I are planning to visit businesses around the Holiday Inn and invite them to speak at an upcoming meeting as a way to introduce them to Rotary.  On another note, we will be having a board meeting this Thursday 2/13.   See you on Thursday.

The Rotary FOUNDATION BANQUET and AWARDS DINNER will be held this year on November 1st at the Shield Club at Children's Mercy Hospital Park - home of Sporting KC.

Every Rotary club that I have belonged to always has had “one big project” that brings in the big money for the causes we support. Ours is Oktoberfest 2019 and we are in the final lap to the finish line. The finish line is Oct. 10 and the project is done when we get the money in and prizes out.  Small clubs rely on lots of help from each of its members, especially when it comes to reaching our goals and having a successful event.  Here is what still needs to be done:
  • Sell as many tickets as possible
  • Sell as many raffle tickets as you can for the Weekend in Branson.
  • Keep looking for sponsors for the event.
  • Be creative and generous in getting in Silent Auction items.
  • Sign-up to help this Thursday at breakfast for a 3 hour time to help at Oktoberfest (3 to 6 pm,  5 to 8 pm, or 6 to 9 pm).  Some of us may even be able to help the whole time.
  • Invite someone to bring who has no one to get them there.
  • Think of Rotarians you helped in other clubs and sell them tickets.
Remember this is a team project.  Each of us can help make this a very successful project.
We have just 9 days from today,-which is October 1!
